Paleo Shrimp Remoulade Dip – delectable seafood appetizer/snack
Has anyone watched the film “Cellular”? With Kim Basinger and Chris Evans? So, it came on TV last night and it’s the reason why this post took me nearly two hours to write. Like seriously?? Talk about getting side-tracked. It’s a thrilling movie though! (“You don’t tell me what to chill, I CHILL YOU” LOL)
Talking about movies (and not the recipe as I should be), Allegiant came out at the cinemas in the UK this past Thursday. I went with my sister and Ozzy (she’s had a cameo on the blog here before). Ugh. That movie was brilliant. I haven’t read the books but apparently, the person sitting next to me exclaimed – ever so mightily – that the story had changed.
Okay. Well, change is good. It’s called creative freedom and I’m pretty sure it’s boring to watch something on-screen when you know exactly what’s about to happen.. right?
Anyway! This Paleo Shrimp Remoulade Dip came to me when I was watching the Food Network. I saw this lady showing how to make your own mayo and I realised I’d never made my own mayo before! I just totally cut it out when I went Paleo. So, I went online to try and solidify my knowledge of the process.
Then I got scared. I kept on seeing lots of horror stories in forum comments about how the mayo broke. Now, I think about it, it was such a stupid fear. Fear is stupid.
Well, I got over it and ended up making the mayo, a number of times! Here’s the video that helped me. She speaks so eloquently.
I want you guys to try this Paleo Shrimp (or Prawns rather) Remoulade – it makes you look fancy when you have guests around! The makings of a French Remoulade with a little creative freedom and voilà! They are perfect served with these Coconut Herb Crackers!
- 300 g /10 oz cooked small shrimp/prawns
- 4 tbsp homemade mayo
- 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp your favourite hot sauce
- 1 tbsp tomato puree
- 3 celery stalks
- 2 tbsp capers
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh chives
- 2 tbsp jalapenos optional
- In a large bowl, mix together all the ingredients.
- If needed, transfer to a nicer bowl for presentation. Sprinkle some chives to garnish
- Serve and enjoy immediately
These are so great with the crackers! If you're making the mayo beforehand, it will take you about 10-12 minutes on top of the prep for the dip especially if you use an electronic whisk!
