Hi guys. I feel like this post warrants a proper “Hi, how have you guys been?”. Restarts are a funny thing. They’re funny because when you start something, you never intend to stop. You never anticipate taking a break and what’s worse, you never expect that something could force you to stop, let alone restart.
The past 6 months have been a little crazy for me. I started January with an intention, not just with my blog but with my life. 6 months later and I never expected to be back at square 1 but guys, there IS such a thing as a restart. You’re allowed to begin again. You’re allowed to go through setbacks and delays, you’re going to be knocked back in life a few times; however, nothing can steal a restart from you. One day, you’ll get back up and you’re given the chance to try again.
So, here I am with this juice fast series! For me, it was the one thing I wanted to do, to give me a complete restart. Not just for the health benefits but also, the clarity that juice fasts give your mind is really amazing. I have posted a few juicing recipes on my blog before, please feel free to check them out.
This Orange Beetroot Carrot Juice has much more than just those but I feel they are the main ingredients for me. It yields about a 750ml – 1l of juice (26 oz. – 35 oz.) To do a juice fast properly, you should be consuming 4-6 litres of juice (7-10 pints) a day. I should add that this yield only comes with an excellent juicer, I still use my Omega. Basically, whenever you feel hungry on a juice fast, drink some more juice. That’s a whole lot of vegetables but again, for me, it’s worth the expense. I mean, I only do it once or twice a year ha!
Beetroot juice is a very potent cleansing juice. Too much and it can even cause headaches or beeturia lol. Orange juice adds sweetness along with the Carrot Juice. I also added some ginger, mint leaves and a few other vegetables to up the level of juice I was getting. Tip: cucumbers and celery gives you a great yield of juice. Also, always add a lemon or lime to your juices to boost it’s antibacterial and antimicrobial properties.
Never feel like it’s too late to start again. If you are living right, any negative things you go through are only meant to build you up, your steadfastness, your patience and your strength. Orange Beetroot Carrot Juice
A sweet but tart juice filled with oranges, beetroots, carrots and other vegetables for a refreshing and cleansing juice.
- 2 oranges
- 3 beetroots (with beet greens and tail)
- 7 carrots (tops and tail chopped off)
- 1 whole lemon
- 1 knuckle of ginger
- 7 mint leaves
- 200/0.4 g/lb spinach
- 3 celery stalks
Run all your vegetables through your juicer. Alternate between soft and harder fruits and vegetables so that they run through your juicer smoothly and you get the most yield.
