Happy 2016 people! We made it!
So, we’re like 6 days into the new year now; how do you guys feel?
I’m feeling so good, especially as I started my juice cleanse yesterday! I felt like this year I needed it – the last two months of 2015 were a serious 60:40 with my Paleo and Non-Paleo habits.
In light of this, I’m going to be posting a bunch of juice/smoothie recipes for the next two weeks – I’m only doing 7 days but you know, my posting schedule and all lol
Speaking of posting schedules, I think I love blogging so much that I AM actually going to start posting twice every week! Wednesdays and Sundays are my go-to days right now. Will see how it works out.
I’m really wishing you all the best year ahead. I don’t really believe in new year’s resolutions but I do believe in taking steps to better yourself, always.
Leaving you with this awesome Berry Cherry Green Detox Smoothie (what a name ha) which is full of enough anti-oxidants and greens to give you that essential Christmas detox! To drink this, you might want to mix the two layers, as I only did so for the pictures – that green layer tastes horrid by itself! I warned you haha
If you aren’t really interested in a smoothie recipe right now, why not check out my delicious Cajun Chicken Plantain Salad recipe?
- 1 cup frozen berries mix (Strawberries, Blackberries, Blueberries, Raspberries)
- 1/2 cup frozen cherries
- 4 leaves mint
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 1/2 cups spinach leaves (fresh or frozen)
- 1/3 avocado
- Juice of half a lemon
- Enough water to cover , about 1 litre
-
Add all ingredients to your blender with the spinach leaves first.
-
Process until smooth and enjoy
To make a thicker smoothie, just reduce the amount of water you add.
You can use fresh or frozen but I use frozen fruits because they're cheaper and I feel they make a creamier consistency.

February, 2016 at 8:29 PMif you keep the layers separates (since it looks so pretty that way!) what goes into the green layer and what goes into the pink one? also, what do you have to do to get the swirl like the second picture instead of the flat layers like the first picture?

February, 2016 at 9:10 PMI put the Banana, Mint, Spinach & Avocado in the green, Berries & Cherries in the pink. Lemon can go in any but maybe the green? I would also suggest maybe adding 1/2 banana more to the green because it tasted really spinachy on its own lol. For the swirls; after I layered the smoothie, I took a straw, dipped it in and sort of dragged it up against the glass – really easy! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
