Hi, I’m Whitney! Glad you could join me! I’m a lover of plantains and I like to pretend I have my own cooking show. Here you will find recipes that I truly love and a wonderful exploration of new cuisines – the Paleo way!

This blog is all about luscious, healthy Paleo recipes (including some gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian and vegan) that will hopefully change your relationship with food FOREVER! I went Paleo nearly two years ago (from October 2015 at the time of writing) and certainly never looked back. I decided to make the change for some obvious reasons like; trying to fit into that dress you buy a size smaller but ultimately, I had some health issues that were kicking my butt! Nothing serious if you think PMS is a walk in the park lol.

Woops, just got a little candid there. Don’t worry, I do that quite a bit. We’re all human here ha.

Never did I imagine that living a Paleo lifestyle would make me want to be in the kitchen so much! All I want to do now is cook, bake, try new recipes, develop new recipes, get back to cooking and baking.. it’s this awesome, never-ending cycle. It’s also pushed my interest in exploring different cuisines and cooking techniques, taking me on a wonderful journey – right in my home!

I’m a January baby, living in the cold country that hardly ever sees the sun UK. I have so much joy in my heart because I know someone that gives me a peace that passes all understanding and His name is Jesus.

I’m of Nigerian descent, born in the UK, partly raised in Nigeria. I graduated top of my class with a Business Administration Degree (seriously, I was awarded the best graduating student with a 1st class. They gave me 500 quid lol!).

I’m a singer and I’ve done so many awesome things because of this voice, including performing for the Queen of England, meeting Alicia Keys, performing at Glastonbury (the biggest festival in the UK) and worked for (did backing vocals for) some amazing artists like Jacob Banks (tallest guy pictured below) – just needed to drop all this in the event you thought I was just saying this to sound like I had other skills LOL. I LOVE travelling – I’ve been to Istanbul, Azerbaijan, Barcelona, Portugal, France (well Disneyland lol), North Wales and Amsterdam so far. Hoping to visit many more places soon!  I’m so much more and maybe you’ll get to see while you read my blog.

BUT SERIOUSLY THOUGH: WHAT IS PALEO REALLY?

Ah. The term “Paleo” stems from the word “Paleolithic” which refers to the Stone Age. It is based on the era of the caveman; you know, when man was forced to hunt down his food and live on what was readily available to him. Here, it has been researched that man is biologically made for whole foods, promoting a prime balance of wellbeing. So, the Paleo diet refers to eating whole, rich, nutrient – dense and REAL foods that are designed to give man an optimum level of health & vitality. It relies on the elimination of anything processed, refined sugars, carcinogenic oils, dairy and those legumes & other foods that contain antinutrients. Everything else is fair game.

Why start a blog about it? Because blogging is so cool duh. LOL.

Ultimately, though, I’m hoping I can share this lifestyle and journey with you all and help you understand that eating healthy can be glorious! It’s a part of not just your physical, but emotional and mental well-being. I don’t pretend to know everything, all my recipes and knowledge are based on my own experience and the fact that I truly do love eating these meals – so, if I don’t like it, it won’t be up here.. like EVER!

Remember, that time I said we’re all human. We are. I don’t believe a Paleo lifestyle should be a strict one but a sustainable one. I’m not 100% Paleo, maybe like 95% because listen, everyone needs a bit of rebellion in their life right? I love food, I love cooking and I’d rather have a healthy “Paleo” muffin than none at all. You may even find me using grass fed butter or even having some organic full-fat yoghurt. Most importantly, I’m just trying to figure out how I can eat what I want, when I want and not leave a trail of health issues along the way.
